Step by Step:

If you installed the WMFHotFix, Remove it:

Click on START -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs
Choose “WMFHotFix, MSI Version...” it will expand, then click “remove” in the lower right corner. Click “Yes” to “Are you sure...”?

Do a Windows Update (will require restart):

  • Open Windows Internet Explorer
  • Click Tools -> Windows Update
(If Microsoft wants to validate your Windows, please follow the instructions on the web page until you reach the “Microsoft Update” page).
  • In the “Microsoft Update” page, click the “Express” button.
(It now checks for updates)
  • At the Express Results page, below “Review and Install Updates”, click “Install Updates”
(Downloads and installs updates)
  • Restart your computer when asked.

Notes:

We have been told by the author of the WMFHotFix patch that it should cause no problems if you were to run both the WMFHotFix patch and the patch provided by Windows. However, we still recommend you remove the WMFHotFix patch.
